How to Cook Canned Black Beans on the Stove
Description
How to Cook Canned Black Beans on the Stove provides a savory way to prepare drained canned black beans with simple ingredients that build depth of flavor. Butter cooks small bacon pieces and chopped onions until softened and fragrant. The drained black beans and chicken broth are then added, followed by garlic powder, taco seasoning, and sugar to balance acidity and spice. The mixture is heated until bubbling and aromatic, then finished with salt and pepper according to preference.
The method energizes the basic canned beans with smoky bacon, aromatic onion, and layered seasonings, yielding beans that are tender yet well-flavored. These can be served on their own or incorporated into various dishes such as burritos, tacos, salads, or as a side to meats and grains.
Practical preparation notes include draining the beans before cooking to remove canning liquid, and skipping further seasoning if using already seasoned canned beans. Garnishes like jalapeno or cilantro can be added as desired.
