HOW TO COOK CANNED NEW POTATOES

This recipe instructs how to enhance canned new potatoes by coating them in a seasoned butter blend and simmering briefly with lemon juice for brightness. The combination of spices like onion and garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne provides a balanced savory and mildly spicy flavor. Finishing with Parmesan cheese adds a rich, salty note and optional chives bring a mild onion garnish. This method offers a practical way to turn canned potatoes into a flavorful side dish with soft texture infused by the butter and seasonings.

Description

HOW TO COOK CANNED NEW POTATOES uses canned new potatoes enhanced by a flavorful butter sauce seasoned with a blend of dried onion, garlic powder, paprika, parsley flakes, and cayenne pepper. After draining, the potatoes are coated in melted unsalted butter mixed with this spice blend, then simmered briefly with a bit of water and lemon juice to add moisture and brightness. The cooking liquid infuses the potatoes subtly, softening their texture further while balancing the spices. Finally, sprinkling Parmesan cheese on top adds savory richness, and optional chives provide a fresh, herbaceous garnish.

The recipe relies on gentle stovetop cooking to meld the flavors well without overcooking, preserving the potatoes' tender bite characteristic of new potatoes. This approach transforms convenient canned potatoes into a more interesting side dish with layered taste and a light buttery sauce. It pairs well with simple mains needing a quick potato accompaniment.

Since canned potatoes are already cooked, this quick method requires only simmering until warmed and lightly coated in the flavorful sauce. The included spices and cheese make it suitable for elevating everyday pantry staples without extra prep.
