How To Cook Swede In Microwave

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium Swede/Rutabaga
  • 3 Tsp Light I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter
  • 1 Tsp thyme
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Place one tablespoon of water in the bottom of your steamer basket.
  2. Using a sharp kitchen knife cut off the ends of your swede. Then cut into large slices and cut those large slices into medium cubes. Then add to the steamer basket.
  3. Add your seasonings and mix with your hands for an even coating.
  4. Place the lid on the steamer and then place in the microwave.
  5. Microwave for 5 minutes.
  6. Stir, add butter on top, place lid back on steamer basket and microwave for a further 5 minutes.
  7. Then do the fork test to make sure your swede is fork tender. If not cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Load into a serving dish and serve.

Notes

  • Optional – I love my swede with butter, but it is totally optional. Though if you are not adding butter, you will still need to stir the swede at 5 minutes.
