Instructions

  1. Freeze the avocado according to one of the 4 methods below depending on the condition of the avocado you’re freezing.
  2. Whole: Place the whole avocado into a ziptop freezer bag and seal tight.
  3. Halved: Sprinkle lemon or lime juice on each half, keeping the pit if it’s still attached. Wrap each half in plastic wrap so that the plastic is tightly against the avocado flesh, then place in a ziptop freezer bag and seal tight.
  4. Sliced or Chopped: Place the sliced or chopped avocado on a small baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle lemon or lime juice all over. Freeze until solid, about 1-2 hours, then transfer the pieces to a ziptop freezer bag or freezer-safe container and seal tight.
  5. Mashed: Place the mashed avocado in a ziptop freezer bag or freezer-safe container. Sprinkle lemon or lime juice all over and use a fork to mash the juice into the avocado. Seal the ziptop bag or container tight.
  6. To thaw, submerge the frozen avocado in its ziptop bag or container in a bowl of cold water for about 30 minutes or thaw overnight in the fridge.
