How to Freeze Lemons

Report
How to Freeze Lemons explains methods to preserve lemons whole, sliced, or juiced by freezing, enabling convenient storage and extending usability. Each approach aims to maintain lemon flavor and freshness to be used later in cooking or drinks, although freezing changes lemon texture.

Description

This guide outlines three freezer preparation methods: freezing whole lemons, freezing lemon slices or wedges, and freezing lemon juice in ice cube trays. Whole lemons are washed, placed in freezer bags with air removed, and frozen. Frozen lemons thaw to a mushy texture but retain juice quality useful in recipes.

Lemon slices or wedges are arranged on parchment-lined trays before being frozen individually, then transferred to freezer bags to prevent clumping. This method provides portioned lemon pieces for adding directly to beverages or dishes.

Lemon juice is extracted and poured into ice cube trays, frozen until solid, then cubes are stored in freezer bags. This approach allows flexible use of measured lemon juice without thawing a full lemon.

The notes mention freezing lemon slices to keep on hand for drinks or meals, recommending defrosting them in the refrigerator or at room temperature as needed.
