How to Make a GREAT Club Sandwich

The Great Club Sandwich layers crisp applewood bacon, ripe tomato, iceberg lettuce, smoked turkey, and deli ham between toasted buttered white sandwich bread. Mayonnaise adds moisture and richness, while the sandwich is secured with toothpicks and cut into triangles, creating a classic deli-style club with balanced savory flavors and textures. It pairs well with potato chips for a traditional meal.

Description

This club sandwich features three slices of toasted white bread spread with butter and mayonnaise, providing a soft and slightly rich base. Applewood-smoked bacon strips are pan-cooked until crisp, offering a smoky and crunchy layer. Juicy tomato slices and iceberg lettuce add freshness and crunch, placed between layers of smoked turkey and deli ham slices for savory protein.

The sandwich assembly places bacon and vegetables on the bottom slice, topped with a middle bread slice, then turkey and ham on top, finishing with the last bread slice. Secured with toothpicks at the corners and cut into four triangles, it is a convenient and hearty sandwich with contrasting textures from crispy bacon and fresh vegetables, complemented by creamy mayonnaise and buttered bread.

Ideal for a filling lunch or casual dinner, this club sandwich is commonly served with potato chips or similar sides. Toasting the bread and cooking bacon to your preferred crispness ensures a satisfying mouthfeel with every bite.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 lices sandwich bread , (I like good old-fashioned white for this)
  • butter
  • mayonnaise
  • 3 Bacon preferably applewood, strips
  • 1 tomato sliced, juicy, ripe
  • iceberg lettuce
  • 3 smoked turkey deli slices slices or 1.5 oz
  • 3 deli ham slices slices or 1.5 oz

Instructions

  1. Layer the bacon in a heavy bottom or cast iron skillet and heat to medium. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until desired crispness then drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  2. Toast the bread slices, then lightly spread both sides with some butter. Spread one side of all three bread slices with mayo.
  3. Top one slice of the bread with the bacon, followed by the tomato, and then lettuce. Top that with one of the other slices of bread (mayo-side down). Spread mayo on top of that slice of bread, then add the turkey, and ham. Top with the last slide of bread (mayo-side down). Secure the layers with toothpicks in four corners of the sandwich and cut it into 4 triangles. Serve with potato chips and enjoy.
