How to Make Almond Butter (in 1 Minute!)

This recipe explains how to transform raw or roasted almonds into smooth almond butter using a high-speed blender like a Vitamix. The process involves roasting almonds for enhanced flavor or using them raw with optional oil for creaminess. The method requires continuous tampering and blending to break down almonds into a spreadable nut butter. It delivers a natural almond butter suitable for refrigeration and versatile in use.

Description

How to Make Almond Butter (in 1 Minute!) uses raw or roasted almonds as its central ingredient. The optional step of roasting almonds at 350°F for 10 to 13 minutes adds a toasted flavor, but raw almonds may be blended with added neutral oil such as avocado oil to achieve the desired consistency. The almonds are processed in a Vitamix blender, where using the tamper helps continuously push the nuts down and encourages even blending. Within about a minute, the nuts turn from coarse pieces into a creamy butter.

The almond butter achieves a smooth spreadable texture through sustained high-speed blending. Retaining some of the flavorful browned bits after roasting enhances the nutty taste. After preparation, the almond butter should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to preserve freshness and prevent spoilage.

This almond butter can be used in various ways, including as a spread, ingredient in baking, or a component in sauces or dressings. The simple ingredients and straightforward method make it practical to prepare fresh almond butter at home with control over texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 cups almond raw

Optional

  • 3-4 tbsp neutral flavored oil I use avocado oil

Instructions

  1. If roasting your almonds, preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  2. Place the almonds on a parchment lined baking tray and roast for 10-13 minutes.
  3. Let the almonds cool completely, to room temperature. Then transfer the almonds to your Vitamix container.
  4. If not roasting the almonds and using additional oil, add the oil to your Vitamix container, then the nuts.
  5. Place the lid on your Vitamix and remove the cap. Insert the tamper through the lid. Turn the Vitamix on high and use the tamper to continuously push down on the almonds, particularly in the corners. After one minute, you'll have almond butter.
  6. Transfer the almond butter to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use raw or roasted almonds depending on your flavor preference; roasting adds a nuttier taste.
  • If using raw almonds, adding 3 to 4 tablespoons of a neutral oil like avocado oil helps achieve creaminess.
  • Store almond butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • Use a high-speed blender with a tamper to blend the almonds continuously without stopping.
