How to Make Crab Norfolk at Home

Crab Norfolk is a baked crab dish that features lump crab meat combined with a savory mix of butter, lemon juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, paprika, and optional seafood seasoning. The crab is first cooked briefly with seasonings on the stovetop, then topped with butter and baked until slightly browned. It results in a richly flavored and buttery seafood dish that pairs well with crusty bread or crackers.

Description

How to Make Crab Norfolk at Home centers on lump crab meat cooked gently with a blend of flavorful ingredients including lemon juice, vinegar, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and optional seafood seasoning. The preparation starts on the stove by heating part of the butter and briefly sautéing the crab in it along with the seasoning mixture. This step allows the flavors to meld without overcooking the delicate crab meat.

After the initial cooking, additional butter is placed on top before transferring the dish to a preheated oven to bake. Baking at 400 degrees slightly browns the butter and crab, adding depth to the flavor and a subtle texture contrast. The final dish offers a luscious buttery taste balanced by acidic and spicy notes from the seasonings.

Crab Norfolk is served best warm, accompanied by crusty bread or crackers which complement the rich crab and help soak up the buttery sauce. This dish can function as a starter or light main course for seafood lovers.
