How to make Hamburger Casserole

Report
Hamburger Casserole layers thinly sliced potatoes, browned ground beef, creamy mushroom soup, milk, and shredded cheese into a hearty baked dish. The layers meld during baking, producing tender potatoes and a rich, cheesy beef filling. This casserole provides comforting, filling family-style servings and uses simple pantry ingredients.

Description

This casserole begins with slicing small potatoes thinly, layering them with browned ground beef and a mixture of cream of mushroom soup, milk, and seasoning. The layering is repeated to build a substantial dish topped with shredded colby jack or cheddar cheese. Covered with foil, it's baked to allow the potatoes to become tender while absorbing the savory flavors from the beef and soup mixture.

Removing the foil in the final stages creates a golden, melted cheese crust, adding texture contrast. Once baked, letting it rest before cutting helps the layers set for easier serving. This straightforward casserole suits weeknight dinners or meal prep for feeding a group, offering balanced portions of starch, protein, and dairy.
