How to Make Hot Chocolate

This Hot Chocolate recipe combines cocoa powder, cane sugar, milk, and chocolate chips to create a creamy and rich beverage. The cocoa and sugar are first whisked into boiling water, then milk is added and heated gently until smooth. Chocolate chips melt in, adding depth and silkiness. Served with marshmallows, this hot drink is comforting and satisfying.

Description

The preparation starts by boiling water, into which cocoa powder and cane sugar are whisked until combined. Milk is then added over medium heat and heated until just warmed through without boiling. Chocolate chips are incorporated to melt completely, enriching the drink's texture and flavor. Finally, vanilla extract is stirred in to enhance the aromatic profile.

This hot chocolate offers a smooth and slightly thickened texture. Mini marshmallows or chocolate shavings can be added as a garnish for extra sweetness and visual appeal.

The recipe is adaptable to different types of milk including plant-based milks such as almond or oat, or richer options like half and half for a creamier consistency. Leftover hot chocolate can be refrigerated and reheated on the stove within 2 to 3 days.
