How to Make Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is a basic sweetener made by dissolving equal parts sugar and water. This syrup has a smooth, clear texture and is useful for sweetening drinks, desserts, and other recipes where sugar needs to be evenly distributed. It offers a neutral sweetness without the graininess of undissolved sugar crystals.

Description

How to Make Simple Syrup consists of boiling water and stirring in white granulated sugar until it nearly dissolves, then removing from heat until fully dissolved as it cools. The equal amount of sugar to water creates a syrup that is versatile and easy to use, especially in beverages or recipes requiring a liquid sweetener. Cooling the syrup before storage allows it to thicken slightly while remaining pourable.

The syrup should be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator, labeled with the preparation date to ensure freshness. Using quality water is important to avoid off-flavors, and stirring the sugar continuously speeds up dissolution for a clearer syrup.

This preparation is straightforward and provides a customizable base sweetener you can adapt by infusing flavors or adjusting sweetness levels in future variations.
