How to make Strawberry Lemonade
Description
This recipe starts with a strawberry simple syrup, simmering chopped strawberries, sugar, and water just enough to dissolve sugar and infuse flavor. The syrup is strained to remove solids. Separately, fresh strawberries are macerated in sugar to soften and release juices. These are combined with freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water to form the lemonade base. Adding the syrup completes the drink.
The finished strawberry lemonade balances the citrus tang of lemon with the sweetness and fruitiness of strawberries. It can be served chilled over ice, garnished with slices of frozen strawberry and lemon for visual appeal and added chill.
Various sweeteners may be used according to preference or dietary needs, including agave nectar, honey, raw sugar, stevia, or monkfruit. The lemonade keeps up to five days refrigerated, suitable for making ahead. Variations include raspberry lemonade or swapping lemon for lime.
