Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup pecans

Instructions

How to Toast Pecans in Oven:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spread pecans in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake for 6-8 minutes, stirring or shaking the pan at the halfway point.

How to Toast Pecans in a Skillet:

  1. Heat skillet over medium high heat. Once warm, add pecans and cook until fragrant and slightly darker, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Stir pecans occasionally so they do not burn.

Notes

  • Swap out the pecans for walnuts or almonds.
  • STORE: store toasted pecans in airtight container in refrigerator for up to one week. Best flavor if used immediately in baking. Toasted pecans spoil faster than raw pecans, as you have released the oils.
  • Depending upon oven, cook times may vary. Keep a close eye on your pecans to make sure they do not burn.
  • When doing a small batch of pecans, I prefer the skillet method. If doing more than 1 cup of pecans, I toast in the oven.
  • The same methods can be used for sliced almond, or any chopped nuts. Keep your eye on the nuts as they will toast faster!
  • Make Candied Cinnamon Pecans or Maple Brown Sugar Pecans too!
