Iced Matcha Latte
Description
This Iced Matcha Latte starts by dissolving matcha powder in a small amount of hot water, whisked until completely smooth to prevent clumps. Additional hot water and honey are whisked in to balance the tea's slight bitterness with sweetness. The beverage is then built in a glass with ice and oat milk, poured to fill most of the glass, followed by the matcha mixture stirred in.
The finished drink is cool and creamy from the oat milk, with the bright green tea flavor highlighted by the honey's sweetness. The preparation yields a refreshing alternative to hot matcha, suitable on warmer days or as a chilled beverage option.
Using a small hand mixer or vigorous whisking ensures full dissolution of matcha powder for the best texture. The recipe uses oat milk here, but other milk types can be substituted as preferred.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
- ½ cup water divided, hot
- 1 tablespoon honey
- ice
- 1 cup oat milk or milk of choice
Instructions
- Place the matcha powder and 2 tablespoons of hot water in a cup and whisk until the matcha is fully blended into the water.
- Pour in the remaining water and honey, and whisk again until fully combined.
- Prepare a glass with the ice and pour the oat milk on top, filling ¾ of the way full. Pour the blended matcha on top, stir and enjoy immediately.
