Indian Tacos
Description
Indian Tacos start with a homemade fry bread dough made from flour, salt, baking powder, and warm water, rested briefly before being shaped and fried in hot oil. The frying creates bread that is crisp on the outside and soft and airy inside, ideal as a sturdy taco shell.
The topping includes ground beef cooked with taco seasoning until well flavored, along with warmed canned ranch style beans. Fresh chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and cilantro add freshness, creaminess, and balance to the hearty meat and beans.
The tacos are assembled by layering the taco sauce, seasoned meat, beans, and fresh vegetables atop the fry bread. The result is an indulgent dish combining crispy bread with richly spiced meat and creamy toppings, suitable for a filling lunch or dinner.
