Instant Pot Brown Rice Recipe
Description
The recipe starts by rinsing two cups of brown rice to remove surface starch, which helps keep the cooked grains separate. The rinsed rice is combined with water and olive oil in an Instant Pot. Cooking under high pressure for 24 minutes with natural pressure release produces soft, fully cooked rice without mushiness. Fluffing the rice with a fork afterward helps maintain a light texture.
This brown rice can serve as a versatile side dish or base for various meals. Using broth instead of water or adding fresh herbs right before serving can enhance the flavor. Pre-cooking a large batch allows convenient meal prep for the week by storing rice in containers with proteins or vegetables.
For storage, refrigerate leftovers up to 5 days or freeze in measured portions for up to 3 months. Reheat gently in a microwave or on the stove with a little water to restore moisture. Following rinsing and natural pressure release steps is key to perfect texture.
