Description
Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken begins by placing a base of buffalo sauce in the Instant Pot, seasoned chicken breasts on top, with salt, pepper, additional buffalo sauce, and water or chicken stock added. The pressure cooker cooks the chicken for 10 minutes, after which the chicken is shredded. The sauté function is used to reduce the cooking liquid while mixing in the shredded chicken and remaining buffalo sauce, coating the meat thoroughly and allowing flavors to concentrate.
The cooking method produces moist, tender chicken pieces infused with spicy buffalo sauce. This preparation is well suited for quick meals, offering a convenient way to make shredded buffalo chicken without stove-top simmering or slow cooking. It can be served in sandwiches, salads, tacos, or alongside vegetables or rice.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breast boneless skinless
- 1 cup buffalo sauce or more
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup water or chicken stock
Instructions
- Add 1/3 cup of buffalo sauce to the bottom of the Instant Pot.
- Add in the chicken breasts and season with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle a couple more tablespoons of sauce on top of the chicken breasts and add 1/4 cup of water or chicken broth.
- Pressure cook for 10 minutes and then quick release when done.
- Remove the cooked chicken breasts and shred them.
- At the same time, press the sauté button on the Instant Pot and let the liquid inside simmer and cook down as you shred the chicken breasts.
- Add the shredded chicken back into the Instant Pot and add in the rest of the buffalo sauce.
- Toss to coat and then enjoy!
