Instant Pot Chicken Breast (Fresh or Frozen)

This Instant Pot recipe cooks fresh or frozen chicken breasts quickly using chicken broth, garlic parsley salt, and pressure cooking. The method produces tender, juicy chicken suitable for a variety of meals without drying out.

Description

The recipe involves seasoning chicken breasts with garlic parsley salt and placing them in the Instant Pot with one cup of chicken broth. Fresh chicken breasts should be arranged in a single layer, and frozen chicken breasts can also be used directly. The pressure cooker lid is sealed, and chicken is cooked under high pressure for 10 minutes for fresh, and 15 minutes for frozen. A natural pressure release follows for 10 minutes before opening.

Cooking under pressure with broth helps retain moisture and flavor, preventing the chicken from drying. The chicken is cooked through and easy to shred or slice for use in salads, sandwiches, or other dishes requiring cooked chicken.

This is a straightforward, no-fuss method to prepare chicken breasts with minimal ingredients and hands-on time.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 lbs chicken breast fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic parsley salt

Instructions

  1. Add chicken broth into the Instant Pot and place trivet inside.
  2. Season the chicken breast with garlic salt on both sides. Place it inside the Instant Pot. If you're using frozen chicken breast, make sure to assemble the chicken in a single layer.
  3. Seal the lid and the vent. Pressure cook the raw chicken on high for 10 minutes. For frozen chicken breast, add an extra 5 minutes.
  4. Allow the chamber pressure to do a natural release for an additional 10 minutes. Safely release the remaining pressure out of the chamber before opening the lid. Enjoy!
