Instant Pot Corn on the Cob

Instant Pot Corn on the Cob steams ears of corn unhusked or husked using high pressure to cook quickly and evenly. The corn remains tender and juicy with minimal hands-on time. The method is convenient, especially when cooking multiple ears at once, and the result is ready to serve warm with butter and seasoning.

Description

This recipe uses an Instant Pot with a trivet rack and one cup of water to create steam under pressure. Corn ears are arranged in layers, either husked or partially husked, and pressure cooked on high for 3 minutes. A quick release of pressure follows to stop cooking promptly, preserving moisture and texture.

The cooked corn is removed carefully with tongs and served immediately with butter, salt, and pepper. Steaming under pressure reduces cooking time compared to boiling and helps retain the natural sweetness and nutrients of the corn.

For storage, corn kernels can be cut off the cob and frozen in airtight bags up to eight months. Whole cooked corn cobs can also be wrapped and frozen, then thawed before reheating in a microwave or eating cold.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 5-6 ears corn
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Add trivet rack to the instant pot and add 1 cup water.
  2. Remove husks from your ears of corn (or you can keep them on if you want to trim them down and husk them after the corn is cooked) and place in the instant pot. Lay 2 or 3 corn ears down first, then 2-3 on top of them, facing the opposite direction.
  3. Secure the instant pot lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on Manual (High pressure) for 3 minutes.
  4. When the timer beeps, quick release any remaining pressure and then remove the lid.
  5. Use tongs to carefully remove the hot ears of corn from the pot. Serve warm with butter, salt and pepper.
