Instant Pot Cube Steak
Description
Instant Pot Cube Steak relies on cube steak coated in a seasoned flour mixture, then browned in olive oil to develop crust and flavor. The steaks are topped with a mixture of beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, chopped onions, and baby bella mushrooms, combining into a creamy sauce as it cooks under high pressure. The pressure cooker tenderizes the meat while infusing it with mushroom and beef essence from the sauce. The resulting dish pairs well served over starchy sides such as potatoes or rice to soak up the rich gravy.
The flavor profile combines the mild seasoning on the steak with the earthy depth of mushrooms and the creamy texture of mushroom soup. The onions soften and meld into the sauce during pressure cooking, adding sweetness and balance to the dish. Browning the steak first helps lock in juices and adds a deeper meat flavor.
Serving this dish over mashed potatoes or rice complements the thickened sauce and makes for an easy weeknight main course. The leftovers keep well refrigerated due to the hearty sauce and can be reheated gently to maintain moisture. Since the recipe uses canned mushroom soup and broth, it simplifies thickening while delivering classic comfort food notes.
