Instant Pot Goulash
Description
Instant Pot Goulash features ground beef browned with onions and garlic, then simmered with diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning. The addition of elbow noodles directly into the pot allows them to cook in the flavorful tomato broth, absorbing both moisture and seasoning. Cooking under high pressure in the Instant Pot reduces the usual cooking time while locking in flavors and blending textures.
The finished goulash has tender pasta and a robust, seasoned sauce with a slight umami note from Worcestershire or soy sauce. The dish is versatile and filling, serving well as a comforting main course. Salt and pepper are adjusted at the end to suit taste, and the bay leaf adds a subtle herbal depth during cooking.
The recipe allows substitution of ground turkey or leaner beef and suggests using lite soy sauce for a lighter flavor. These notes help tailor the dish to different dietary preferences or pantry availability.
