Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs

This recipe uses an Instant Pot to cook hard boiled eggs under high pressure for six minutes, resulting in evenly cooked eggs with shells that peel easily. Using a rack to hold the eggs above water ensures gentle steam cooking. The method includes quick release to prevent overcooking and produces consistently hard-set yolks and firm whites.

Description

Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs involves placing eggs on a wire rack inside the pot, adding one cup of water, and cooking on high pressure for six minutes. The rack prevents the eggs from sitting directly in the water, allowing pressure steam to cook them evenly. An instant pressure release immediately after cooking stops the heat, minimizing overcooking and avoiding a greenish yolk ring.

The eggs come out hot and fully cooked with a texture suitable for peeling and use in salads, snacks, or meal prep. When using larger pressure cookers, more water up to one and a half cups should be added to maintain proper steam generation and pressure.

Ensuring the silicone sealing ring is correctly seated is important for the Instant Pot to seal and pressurize properly. Removing the eggs promptly after pressure release helps preserve the desired texture.
