Instant Pot Hot Chocolate

This Instant Pot hot chocolate combines cocoa powder, sugar, chocolate chips, whole milk, heavy cream, and vanilla into a creamy, smooth drink. The cocoa ingredients dissolve over direct heat, then the milk and cream are whisked in to produce a rich, slightly thickened chocolate beverage that's easy to keep warm and serve.

Description

The recipe starts by melting cocoa powder, sugar, chocolate chips, and salt in water over the Instant Pot's sauté mode (or stovetop) until smooth. Then whole milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract are added and whisked until the mixture thickens slightly, improving creaminess and flavor balance.

This hot chocolate is rich and indulgent with a silky texture, enhanced by the heavy cream and melted chocolate chips. It can be kept warm in the Instant Pot's keep warm setting or gently reheated on a stove.

Serving ideas include garnishes like mini marshmallows, whipped cream, or sprinkles to add texture and extra flavor. The recipe can also be adapted for stovetop preparation, and leftovers store in the refrigerator for up to four days.

A dairy-free option is possible by substituting plant-based milks and dairy-free chocolate chips.
