Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes
Description
This recipe uses peeled and chunked potatoes cooked under pressure with water in an Instant Pot to achieve a soft, ready-to-mash texture in minutes. After sealing and cooking on manual for 6 minutes followed by a quick pressure release, the potatoes become tender enough to mash easily. Adding butter and whole milk to the potatoes while mashing creates a creamy consistency enriched with subtle richness and seasoning of salt and freshly ground pepper. The recipe allows use of a hand mixer or traditional masher to reach the desired smoothness.
These mashed potatoes serve as a classic accompaniment to meat dishes, casseroles, or roasted vegetables. They are versatile and hold flavors well, making them suitable for everyday meals or holiday dinners. The method prevents the potatoes from becoming waterlogged, ensuring a good final texture.
For firmer, chunkier potatoes, reduce the cooking time to 4 minutes. The recipe can be adjusted easily to serve different amounts and various types of potatoes can be used as preferred.
