Instant Pot Milk & Honey Corn on the Cob Recipe

Milk & Honey Corn on the Cob is cooked using an Instant Pot with corn ears immersed in a rich mixture of milk, heavy cream, honey, and Creole seasoning. The corn absorbs creamy, sweet, and mildly spiced flavors, resulting in tender, flavorful ears. This method steams the corn quickly while infusing it with a unique broth that can be saved for other uses.

Description

The Instant Pot Milk & Honey Corn on the Cob Recipe combines corn with a milky, honey-sweetened liquid and Creole seasoning, cooked under pressure for 4 to 6 minutes. The steaming process softens the kernels while allowing them to soak up the rich, buttery, and subtly spicy dairy mixture, enhancing the natural sweetness of the corn. Cooking in an Instant Pot accelerates the steaming and helps blend the flavors effectively.

The resulting corn has a tender texture with enriched taste from the honey and seasoning. After cooking, the corn is recommended to be served hot with the reserved flavorful liquid ladled on top, which adds moisture and extra seasoning, plus an optional sprinkle of more Creole or Cajun spices for added depth.

The leftover broth is valuable for other cooking projects like soups and chowders, carrying the essence of the corn and seasonings. The recipe suggests allowing a brief natural pressure release and then a quick release to maintain the ideal corn doneness and texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 corn ears
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1 Cup heavy cream
  • 4 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tablespoon creole seasoning or Cajun seasoning
  • 1 butter unsalted, stick
  • 8 cups water

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in your Instant Pot (I used a 6 quart for this recipe). Close the lid and ensure that vent is set to "sealing".
  2. Cook on "High Pressure" for 4-6 minutes, depending on how done you like your corn.
  3. When Instant Pot has completed cooking, let it NPR (natural pressure release) for 5 minutes. Then quick release the rest of the way.
  4. Remove corn from Instant Pot and serve immediately. Feel free to sprinkle on a little extra cajun spice and ladle the excess liquid on the corn.
