Instant Pot One-Pot Spaghetti and Meat Sauce
Description
This dish features lean ground turkey sautéed with diced onions and minced garlic to build a savory base flavor. Once softened, a tomato basil pomodoro sauce and water are added along with whole wheat spaghetti broken in half to fit inside the Instant Pot. The ingredients cook together under high pressure, allowing the pasta to absorb the rich tomato sauce while cooking evenly. A quick pressure release ensures the spaghetti does not become mushy.
The final meal is convenient and efficient, combining protein and pasta in one pot with minimal cleanup. Serving with grated Parmesan cheese adds a creamy, salty contrast to the tomato and turkey flavors. The recipe includes details to avoid triggering the Instant Pot burn sensor by deglazing the pot after sautéing.
This meal fits well for a wholesome weeknight dinner that comes together in under 30 minutes of active time, with pantry-friendly ingredients and straightforward steps. Attention to deglazing helps prevent premature burn warnings on newer Instant Pot models.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey 93% lean
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 cup onion diced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tomato basil pomodoro sauce Delallo brand, 25.25 oz jar
- 2 cups water
- 8 ounces whole wheat spaghetti I used Delallo, or gluten-free spaghetti
- Parmesan Cheese optional for serving, grated
Instructions
- Press saute on the Instant Pot. When hot add the turkey and salt and cook, breaking up about 3 minutes.
- Add the onions, and garlic and cook until softened, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add the Pomodoro sauce, water and spaghetti (broken in half), making sure the liquid covers everything without stirring.
- Cover and cook on high pressure 9 minutes.
- Quick release so the pasta doesn’t continue cooking, and serve topped with grated cheese if desired!
Notes
- After sautéing ground turkey and aromatics, always deglaze the Instant Pot with water or broth to prevent burn sensor activation.
- Use whole wheat or gluten-free spaghetti as desired for different dietary needs.
- Serve with grated Parmesan cheese for enhanced flavor.
