Instant Pot Sweet Potatoes Recipe

This Instant Pot Sweet Potatoes recipe uses steam cooking to quickly prepare four medium sweet potatoes with minimal hands-on time. The method involves placing cleaned sweet potatoes in a steamer basket over water, steaming them under pressure, then allowing natural pressure release to ensure softness. The sweet potatoes come out tender and ready to eat or use in various dishes.

Description

The recipe instructs placing a steamer basket inside the Instant Pot with one cup of water, adding medium-sized sweet potatoes that have been scrubbed clean inside the basket. The Instant Pot lid is sealed, and the sweet potatoes are cooked on the steam setting for ten minutes. After cooking, the pressure is allowed to reduce naturally for about twenty-five minutes before opening the pot to remove the sweet potatoes. This cooking approach yields sweet potatoes that are soft and cooked through without direct boiling or baking.

Steamed sweet potatoes can be served simply as a side or used as an ingredient in other dishes. The recipe notes practical storage tips: cooked sweet potatoes last three to four days refrigerated and can be reheated in a microwave or oven. The flesh can also be frozen for up to three months, useful for preparing mashed sweet potatoes or incorporating into soups, casseroles, or pies.
