Description
Chicken breasts are arranged in a baking dish and covered with Italian dressing, then refrigerated to marinate for up to 24 hours with a turn halfway through to ensure even flavor absorption. This step helps tenderize the meat and infuses it with the dressing’s herbs and acidity.
After marinating, the chicken is baked uncovered at 425°F. Parmesan cheese is sprinkled over the breasts during the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking to create a golden, slightly crisp topping. The chicken is cooked until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, ensuring juiciness and safety.
The dish is served with some of the flavorful marinade spooned over the chicken for added moisture and taste. Alternatively, the chicken can be marinated in a mixing bowl if preferred, and for time constraints, marinating while the oven heats can still yield good results.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breast boneless skinless
- 1 cup Italian dressing try our homemade Italian dressing
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
Instructions
- Lay the chicken in a baking dish just big enough to hold the chicken. (See notes.) Pour the Italian dressing over the top. Cover the chicken then place it into your fridge for up to 24 hours, turning the chicken over once halfway through marinating. (See notes.)
- Remove the chicken from the fridge then preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Bake the chicken, uncovered, for 25 minutes. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese evenly over the chicken breasts then continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Serve with a few spoonfuls of the sauce in the baking dish over the top.
Notes
- If desired, marinate the chicken in a mixing bowl instead of a baking dish for easier handling.
- Marinating up to 24 hours enhances flavor, but pouring dressing over the chicken and letting it sit while the oven preheats is a quicker option.
