Jalapeño Cheese Dip Recipe
Description
Jalapeño Cheese Dip Recipe centers on cream cheese, sour cream, and a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses combined with chopped pimientos and minced, deseeded jalapeños. The ingredients are creamed together and baked until the mixture is hot and bubbly, with a topping of additional shredded cheeses that melt and form a golden crust. The jalapeños contribute a mild heat that complements the creamy, cheesy base. This dip is served warm, making it ideal for accompanying crackers or crunchy vegetables at gatherings or as a snack.
The baking step ensures the dip is heated through and melds the flavors well, while the sprinkling of cheese on top adds texture and a slightly crisp finish under the broiler if desired. The inclusion of garlic powder and paprika gives depth to the flavor profile without overpowering the cheese and jalapeño balance.
Serving this dip is straightforward—allow it to cool slightly after baking, then top with sliced jalapeños for a fresh touch. It pairs well with regular or gluten-free crackers and assorted vegetables for dipping. Its creamy texture and balanced spice level make it a practical choice for casual entertaining or a flavorful snack.
Ingredients
- 2 ounce cream cheese at room temperature, packages quantity not specified
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese divided, shredded
- 2 cups cheddar cheese divided, shredded
- ⅓ cup green onion chopped
- 4 ounces pimiento from a jar, ¼ cup, chopped
- 4 jalapeños seeds removed and minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika each
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- jalapeño serve, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the cream cheese, sour cream, 1 ½ cups of mozzarella, 1 ½ cups of cheddar, pimientos, jalapeños, green onions, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to a large mixing bowl.
- Use electric beaters to cream together the ingredients. You can use a wooden spoon, but it is a lot more work.
- Transfer the dip to a 9-inch baking dish or ovenproof pan. Smooth the top with a spatula and then sprinkle the remaining ½ of each mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until it is hot and bubbly. If you'd like a little color on top, broil the dip for 5 minutes. Let the dip cool for a couple of minutes and then serve with the sliced jalapeños on top.
Notes
- Serve the dip hot, paired with crackers or assorted vegetables for dipping.
- Removing jalapeño seeds lowers the heat and enhances the flavor balance.
