Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls
Description
Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls feature a creamy mixture of shredded pepper jack cheese, softened cream cheese, and diced jalapenos spread evenly over joined crescent roll dough. Rolled tightly and sliced into individual rolls, they bake until the dough is golden and the filling is bubbly and flavorful. Brushing the tops with garlic butter adds a fragrant, savory finish.
The rolls offer a blend of spicy, tangy cheese filling enclosed in soft, flaky dough. Baking them together in a casserole dish yields a soft outer crust, while baking separately on a sheet pan produces a crispier texture all around the rolls.
These rolls work well as a dinner appetizer or snack and can be stored in the refrigerator for several days. Reheating suggestions include air frying for a crispy outside or warming in the oven or microwave. The cheese filling can be prepared ahead to streamline assembly.
Ingredients
- 8 ounce pepper jack cheese shredded, Cabot
- 8 ounce cream cheese softened
- 4 ounce jalapeno pepper drained, diced, canned
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 16 ounces crescent roll dough each can is 8 ounces
- ¼ cup butter melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Shred an 8 ounce block of Cabot Pepper Jack Cheese. Add it to a mixing bowl with the softened cream cheese, diced jalapenos and salt.
- Stir to combine all of the ingredients.
- Roll out both cans of crescent roll dough and press the perforations together.
- Spread the cheesy jalapeno mixture evenly over the crescent roll dough.
- Starting with the short side of the dough, roll up each sheet of crescent roll dough tightly over the cheese mixture.
- Use a serrated knife to slice each roll into 8, approximately 1 inch rolls (for 16 total).
- Arrange the rolls in a greased 9 inch x 13 inch baking dish.
- Combine the melted butter and garlic powder in a small bowl, then brush it evenly on top of the rolls.
- Place in the oven and bake for 28-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
- Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
- Reheat rolls in an air fryer at 400°F for 5 minutes to restore a crispy crust and warm, melty filling.
- Alternatively, reheat in a 400°F oven for 6-8 minutes or microwave for 30-60 seconds until warmed through.
- Make the cheesy jalapeno filling up to 3 days in advance and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Bake rolls separately on a parchment-lined baking sheet for a crispier texture, reducing baking time to 10-12 minutes to avoid overcooking.
- You can halve the recipe to make 8 rolls by using one can of crescent roll dough and halving filling ingredients for smaller servings.
- Prepare and bake the rolls ahead of time and reheat before serving for convenience at gatherings.
