Jalapeno Popper Pull Apart Garlic Bread

This Jalapeno Popper Pull Apart Garlic Bread combines crunchy bacon, spicy jalapenos, and a creamy blend of cheeses inside a crusty loaf. The bread is sliced in a grid pattern and filled with a mixture of cream cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, and green onions, then topped with garlic butter before baking. The result is a gooey, cheesy pull-apart bread with a balance of heat and savory flavors from the jalapenos and bacon, ideal for sharing.

Description

The Jalapeno Popper Pull Apart Garlic Bread features a sturdy loaf scored in a grid to hold a spicy cream cheese blend combined with diced jalapenos, cheddar, mozzarella, and green onions. Crisp bacon pieces nestle between layers, adding smokiness and texture. A garlic butter glaze before baking infuses the bread with rich flavor, while the final baking step melts extra cheese on top to create a bubbly golden crust. This method produces a bread that's soft and cheesy inside with a slight crust outside, perfect for appetizing finger food or side dish.

The spicy heat of the seeded jalapenos is tempered by creamy cheeses and balanced with the savory bacon, making this bread flavorful without overpowering. The garlic butter coating enhances aroma and taste throughout the loaf. Baking covered then uncovered ensures the fillings are warmed and cheeses melted without drying out the bread.

This pull-apart bread is ideal for serving at gatherings as a snack or appetizer. It pairs well with beers or as a side to soups and salads. The recipe’s method of slicing the bread to create filling pockets also makes it easy to serve and eat.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 lices Bacon
  • 1 large bread loaf, crusty
  • 2 medium jalapeno pepper diced, seeds removed
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened at room temperature, ½ brick)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (or any other white cheese of choice, shredded)
  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Garlic Butter

  • 4 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 2 clove garlic (minced)
  • 2 teaspoon parsley (dried)

Instructions

  1. Cut the bacon into bite sized pieces. Pan fry on medium heat for about 5-8 minutes or until cooked through. Drain on a paper towel lined plate.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  3. Carefully use a knife to cut a grid into the top of the bread (¾ of the way through the bread). Be careful not to cut through the bottom of the bread.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the diced jalapenos, cream cheese, ¾ cup of cheddar cheese, ¾ cup of mozzarella cheese, green onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  5. Use a knife or spoon to spread the cheese mixture into the cut sections of the bread. Place pieces of bacon in the cut sections of the bread.
  6. Brush the loaf of bread with garlic butter and loosely cover with foil. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and remove the foil. Top with the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered until cheese melts, approximately 5 minutes.
  8. Optional: garnish with more green onions and/or jalapenos. Enjoy!
