Jalapeno Popper Wontons

Jalapeno Popper Wontons are crispy air-fried snacks filled with a creamy mix of diced jalapenos, crumbled bacon, softened cream cheese, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese, seasoned with garlic powder. Wrapped in wonton wrappers and sealed with an egg wash, they cook to a golden crunch while retaining a spicy, cheesy center. Served hot, these bite-sized treats pair well with ranch dressing for dipping, offering a balance of heat, smoky bacon, and creamy cheese in a crisp exterior.

Description

This recipe blends finely diced seeded jalapenos with cooked, crumbled bacon, softened cream cheese, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, and garlic powder to create a rich and slightly spicy filling. The mixture is portioned onto wonton wrappers which are sealed carefully with an egg wash to prevent bursting during cooking. The wontons are air fried at 350°F, first on one side then flipped and cooked again, to achieve an even, crispy texture without excess oil.

The result is a crunchy, golden exterior enclosing a creamy and spicy filling with a smoky hint from bacon and the mild kick from jalapenos. These poppers can be enjoyed as appetizers or snacks and are best served immediately with ranch dressing, which cools and complements the heat.

  • 4 trips Bacon crumbled, cooked
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup Monterey jack cheese shredded
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg plus one tablespoon of water whisked together
  • 19 wonton wrappers store-bought or homemade
  • cooking spray
  • ranch dressing for dipping

Instructions

  5. Place the wontons in the air fryer basket in a single layer, spray with cooking oil and then air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes. (Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may have to work in batches.)
  6. Flip over the wontons, spray again with cooking spray, and cook for an another 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining wontons.
  7. Serve hot with ranch dressing.
