Jalapeno Poppers

These Jalapeno Poppers feature fresh jalapeno peppers stuffed with a mixture of cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, and garlic, wrapped individually in bacon for a flavorful appetizer. Baking followed by broiling crisps the bacon while softening the filling inside. The savory blend balances the heat of the peppers with creamy and herbal notes, making them suitable for parties or snacks. Careful handling of the peppers and preparation of the filling ensure the best flavor and texture.

Description

The recipe begins by halving and deseeding ten jalapeno peppers to reduce heat and create cavities for filling. The filling combines soft cream cheese with finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes, chopped fresh basil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper, blending creaminess with herbaceous and savory elements. Each pepper is filled carefully to avoid overfilling and then wrapped with a bacon slice secured by a toothpick.

Baking at 425°F cooks the peppers and bacon through, then broiling crisps the bacon further, creating a contrast of textures between the crisp bacon exterior and smooth, flavorful filling. The jalapenos retain some firmness without becoming mushy.

These poppers serve well as finger foods or appetizers, appealing through their blend of mild heat, creamy filling, and smoky bacon. They are often made ahead and reheated but do not freeze well. Wearing gloves during preparation prevents irritation from the jalapeno oils. The filling should be tasted and adjusted for seasoning before stuffing.
