Jalapeno Sauce

Report
This jalapeno sauce blends cooked jalapenos, shallots, garlic, sea salt, water, and white wine vinegar simmered to meld flavors, then blended smooth. It results in a spicy, tangy green sauce that can be adjusted in heat by removing jalapeno seeds or mellowed by mixing into dairy for a creamy dip. Fresh herbs and lime juice can be added to brighten and diversify the flavor.

Description

The Jalapeno Sauce recipe involves gently cooking sliced jalapenos with shallots and garlic in olive oil for a few minutes to soften and release flavors. Sea salt, water, and white wine vinegar are then added, and the mixture is simmered to infuse and mellow the ingredients. After cooling slightly, the ingredients are blended until smooth to create a homogenous sauce.

This resulting sauce has the sharp heat of jalapenos balanced by vinegar acidity and the savory sweetness of shallots and garlic. It can be spicier or milder depending on how seeds are handled. Adding fresh cilantro into the blender adds herbaceous freshness, and a squeeze of lime juice can brighten the flavor profile.

The sauce works well as a spicy condiment, marinade, or base for a dip. Mixing some of the sauce into sour cream or Greek yogurt produces a creamy, less intensely spicy dip. Adjusting seed content allows customization of heat level.
