Jamaican Jerk Seasoning

Jamaican Jerk Seasoning is a dry spice blend featuring a mixture of pungent, warm, and spicy flavors including smoked and regular paprika, cayenne, allspice, and several warming spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. This blend provides a savory and slightly sweet seasoning typically used to season meats, imparting a bold and aromatic flavor profile.

Description

The seasoning combines onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, smoked or regular paprika, ground allspice, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, cumin, nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, thyme, and dried parsley. This combination offers layers of heat, smoky notes, sweetness, and herbal undertones typical of Jamaican jerk flavor, but in a dry form.

This spice mix can be stored in a spice jar away from heat and moisture to preserve freshness and potency. It is versatile for seasoning grilled or roasted meats, fish, or vegetables, lending a complex aromatic profile to dishes.

Salt can be adjusted or omitted depending on dietary preferences. Proper storage helps keep the spices effective; faded color usually means reduced flavor strength.
