Juicy Air Fryer Pork Chop

This recipe produces juicy, thick-cut pork chops seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, cooked in an air fryer to develop a nicely browned exterior and tender interior. A flavorful compound butter flavored with garlic, parsley, rosemary, and Worcestershire sauce is prepared to enhance the pork chops on serving.

Description

The Juicy Air Fryer Pork Chop recipe starts with thick pork chops that are patted dry and seasoned on all sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Allowing the meat to rest at room temperature before cooking helps even cooking. The pork chops are placed in a preheated air fryer basket with space for airflow, cooking at 400°F for about 10-11 minutes total, flipping halfway. For thinner pork chops, the temperature should be reduced to 375°F and cooking time adjusted.

The compound butter combines softened salted butter with minced garlic, fresh parsley, rosemary, additional seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. This butter adds aromatic richness and moisture when served over the pork chops. The air frying method crisps the coat of the pork chops delicately without overcooking the interior, resulting in tender and juicy meat with nicely browned surfaces.

Ideal for a quick, flavorful meal, the recipe includes notes on adjusting cooking times for thickness and alternate air fryer types. The combination of simple seasoning and compound butter creates a pork chop with a balanced herbal and savory profile.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 pork chops 3/4-inch to 1-inch thick, thick cut
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Compound Butter

  • 4 tablespoons butter softened, salted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic about 1 clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon parsley 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley, chopped, fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary, minced fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Place 2 thick cut pork chops on a rack with airflow above and below. Pat dry with paper towels. Season all sides with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. Let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the compound butter. In a small bowl, combine 4 tablespoons salted butter, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley, 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. Mix until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C). For thinner pork chops (less than 3/4 inch), reduce temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Pat the surface of the pork chops dry again with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  5. Place pork chops in the air fryer basket with space around each for airflow. Cook for 5 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 5 to 6 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  6. Remove from the air fryer and immediately top each pork chop with a generous spoonful of compound butter. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute and butter to melt.

Notes

  • Reduce air fryer temperature to 375°F and cook 6–8 minutes for pork chops thinner than ¾ inch, flipping midway.
  • Expect 2–5 minutes additional cooking time when using toaster oven-style air fryers or ovens with air fryer settings.
