Juicy Elk Burgers

These elk burgers are made by mixing cold grated butter into ground elk meat, forming two seasoned patties cooked in a skillet or grill to medium doneness. The added butter helps keep the lean elk meat moist and tender during cooking, resulting in juicy and flavorful burgers served on buns with preferred toppings for a hearty meal.

Description

The recipe begins by grating cold butter directly into a bowl of ground elk, then using hands to evenly mix the butter and meat. The butter adds fat and moisture to the lean elk, which can otherwise dry out during cooking. After mixing, the meat is shaped into two evenly sized patties about an inch thick, seasoned simply with a pinch of salt on both sides.

Cooking is done over low-medium heat on either a skillet or grill, with each side cooked for approximately four minutes. This method allows the burgers to cook through while retaining juiciness. Serving with burger buns and desired toppings completes the meal, offering a tasty alternative to traditional beef burgers.

The recipe advises using a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature, aiming for at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure proper cooking. Leftover burgers can be refrigerated for up to three days.
