Juicy Turkey Burgers

Juicy Turkey Burgers are seasoned ground turkey patties mixed with olive oil and Worcestershire sauce to enhance moisture and flavor. The burgers are shaped with a slight indent for even cooking and quickly cooked on a grill or skillet until they reach a safe internal temperature, resulting in tender, flavorful turkey burgers.

Description

This recipe combines ground turkey with olive oil and Worcestershire sauce, which help keep the lean meat moist and add umami depth. Seasoned simply with salt and black pepper, the meat mixture is gently kneaded to avoid compacting and formed into patties with a thumb indentation to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking occurs over medium-high heat on a well-oiled grill or skillet for about five minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, ensuring safe consumption. Resting the burgers after cooking allows juices to redistribute, improving tenderness.

These turkey burgers provide a lean and flavorful alternative to beef patties and can be served with traditional burger toppings and buns or alongside salads for a lighter meal.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, gently knead together turkey, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Don't overwork the meat.
  2. Form into patties about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Press your thumb down on the middle to give it a slight indent.
  3. Heat a large heavy skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Or, heat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat (400-450 degrees F). Make sure the grate is well oiled so the meat doesn't stick.
  4. Cook burgers for about 5 minutes per side, flipping half-way through. Ground turkey needs to be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. You can remove them from the grill or pan at 160 degrees and let rest for 5 minutes, until they reach 165 degrees F, while you prepare your toppings.
  5. Let rest 5 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
