Keto Alfredo Sauce

Keto Alfredo Sauce is a rich, creamy sauce made by cooking butter and finely minced garlic, then simmering heavy cream with parmesan cheese and nutmeg until thickened. The sauce is seasoned with salt and black pepper, yielding a smooth texture that coats pasta or other dishes well without using flour or starches.

Description

This Keto Alfredo Sauce uses butter and garlic sautéed briefly to develop a mild aromatic base. Heavy cream is then added and gently simmered on medium heat while stirring regularly to prevent scorching. Parmesan cheese is incorporated along with ground nutmeg to thicken the sauce and provide the classic Alfredo flavor profile.

The final texture should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, indicating readiness. The sauce is seasoned with salt and black pepper to taste, balancing the creamy richness.

This sauce is suited for low-carb or keto diets as it avoids flour or other thickeners. It complements pasta, vegetables, or proteins by adding a creamy, cheesy component without carbs.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 5 ounces parmesan grated
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a pan. Add garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Pour the heavy cream into the pan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Make sure to stir often so the cream doesn’t burn.
  3. Stir in the Parmesan and nutmeg and continue to cook until it thickens, approximately 8-10 minutes. You will know it is ready when the sauce is thick enough to coat the back of your spoon.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Remove the sauce from the heat and add to your meal or let cool completely if you are saving for later.
