Keto Baked Cheese Crisp Crackers

Keto Baked Cheese Crisp Crackers are made by baking thick slices of cheddar and Monterey/Colby cheese until they become firm and crispy. The baking process melts the cheese, which then hardens as it cools to form crisp crackers. These crackers hold their crunch when stored properly and make a handy low-carb snack or a flavorful accompaniment for dips like guacamole or buffalo chicken dip.

Description

Keto Baked Cheese Crisp Crackers consist of thick slices of cheddar and Monterey/Colby cheese baked in the oven at 400°F until fully firm. Once baked, the cheese slices are transferred to paper towels to soak up excess oil and crisp as they cool. The firmness is key to maintaining their crisp texture after cooling and storage. These crackers offer a rich, cheesy taste concentrated by the melting and baking process, resulting in a crunchy texture without added carbs from grains.

The baking time is crucial—about 12 to 14 minutes until completely firm—to ensure the crackers retain their crispness. Cooling on paper towels helps remove extra moisture and greasiness. Stored in an airtight container or ziplock bag, these cheese crisps keep their crunch for several days.

They can be served alongside creamy dips or as a snack on their own. The simplicity of ingredients and the method highlights the natural flavors of the cheese while creating a satisfying texture contrast.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 cheese Cheddar and Monterey/Colby blend, thick slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F
  2. Place the cheese slices on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.  Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the cheese completely firms up. If the cheese is even the slightest bit bendable, it's not ready yet. It's important that they are firm before you pull them out of the oven, otherwise they will not stay crisp when you store them.
  3. Transfer to paper towels to absorb any excess oil.  Allow to cool on the paper towels and the cheese will crisp up as it cools.
  4. Store in airtight container or ziplock bag for several days and crackers will remain crispy!  Serve with guacamole, your favorite creamy dip or with my Buffalo Chicken Dip!

Notes

  • Ensure the cheese slices are thick and firm enough before baking to achieve optimal crispness.
  • Transfer baked cheese crisps onto paper towels to absorb excess oil and enhance crisp texture.
  • Store crackers in an airtight container to maintain their crunch for several days.
  • Serve with dips such as guacamole or buffalo chicken dip for added flavor combinations.
  • This recipe yields about 12 crisps, with a recommended serving size of 3 crisps per person.
