Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl

Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl mimics egg roll flavors without the wrapper by stir-frying ground pork, coleslaw mix, and a spicy-savory sauce enriched with ginger, garlic, and green onions. The dish balances tender browned meat and lightly cooked crunchy cabbage, flavored with sesame oil, sriracha, and sambal for a bold, layered taste.

Description

This recipe assembles ground pork with coleslaw mix in a skillet, flavored by a sauce blending liquid aminos, chicken stock, sriracha, sambal, fresh ginger, and garlic. Browning the pork creates savory depth, while the sauce adds umami and a moderate kick. The coleslaw mix softens slightly in the sauce, retaining some crispness to add textural contrast to the dish.

The seasoning includes toasted sesame oil and sliced green onions, making the dish fragrant and visually appealing with the garnish of sesame seeds and a drizzle of sriracha. Cooking time allows the cabbage to reach desired tenderness, delivering a combination of juicy meat and vegetables with a balanced spicy and tangy flavor profile.

This bowl serves well as a low-carb main dish that captures the tastes of traditional egg roll fillings without the carb-heavy wrapper. Enjoy immediately to maintain the crisp texture of the cabbage and fresh aromatics.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound ground pork or ground beef
  • 12 ounces coleslaw mix
  • ¼ cup liquid aminos or coconut aminos
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 2 teaspoons garlic fresh, grated
  • ¼ cup chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 2 teaspoons sambal plain or garlic
  • ¼ cup green onion thinly sliced, white and green parts divided
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil toasted
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seed for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet to medium heat and brown the pork.
  2. While the pork is browning, mix together your sauce: chicken stock, Liquid Aminos, Sambal, Sriracha and toasted sesame oil.
  3. Create a well in the center and add the ginger and garlic, cook another minute (careful not to burn the garlic, it will become bitter). Mix together and add in the white parts of the sliced green onions and cook for another minute.
  4. Add in the coleslaw mix and stir in the sauce mixture. Cook for 3-5 minutes, depending on how soft or crunchy you want your cabbage. Top with the sesame seeds, a drizzle of Sriracha and green parts of the sliced green onions. Serve immediately and enjoy!
