Keto Sloppy Joes

Keto Sloppy Joes use ground beef cooked with red bell pepper, onion, and a tomato-based sauce flavored with garlic, mustard, Worcestershire, and spices. The sauce is thickened by simmering and sweetened lightly with monk fruit sweetener to keep it low-carb. This recipe offers a low-carbohydrate alternative to the classic sloppy joe sandwich filling, ideal served over keto-friendly buns.

Description

The recipe starts by browning ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper, then cooking diced onions and bell peppers until slightly tender. Adding garlic briefly enhances aroma without browning, preserving its flavor. A sauce composed of tomato sauce, sugar-free ketchup, white wine vinegar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and sweetener is stirred in, then combined with the beef mixture. The whole is simmered uncovered on low heat to thicken the sauce and meld flavors.

The final dish features a rich, savory, and slightly tangy mixture with balanced sweetness, adapted for a ketogenic diet by using sugar substitutes and low-carb condiments. Serving over keto-specific buns keeps the meal low in carbohydrates but maintains the traditional sloppy joe experience.

Leftovers can be refrigerated for several days or frozen for longer storage, making this a versatile meal preparation choice.
