Ingredients

  • 1 cup onion
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic 
  • 4 tablespoons mayo
  • 1 stalk green onion chopped

Instructions

  1. Add oil to a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add chopped onions and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Toss in butter and lower the heat. Add salt and sauté for 15 minutes until onions begin to caramelize.
  3. Add garlic and stir frequently. Cook for a few minutes.
  4. Transfer the caramelized onions into a bowl and place them in the freezer for 5 minutes to cool them down.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, green onions, and cooled caramelized onions together. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy!
