Korean BBQ Meatballs

Report
Korean BBQ Meatballs blend ground beef and sweet Italian sausage with puréed apple and onion, flavored by soy sauce, brown sugar, and Asian spices. The mixture is formed into sizable meatballs and baked, resulting in a tender, savory dish with a touch of sweetness and umami from the soy and aromatic powders.

Description

This Korean BBQ Meatballs recipe combines equal parts ground beef and sweet Italian sausage for a rich meat base. Puréed apple and yellow onion add moisture and subtle sweetness, while seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, ginger, and soy sauce provide the characteristic savory and slightly sweet Korean BBQ flavor profile. Brown sugar enhances the balance of sweet and savory in the mixture. An egg helps bind the ingredients, and optional mirin increases the subtle sweetness and complexity. After mixing, the meatballs are shaped and baked until cooked through.

The resulting meatballs deliver a juicy, tender bite with a harmony of savory, sweet, and aromatic flavors typical of Korean-style barbecue. They can be served as appetizers, part of a main dish, or alongside rice and vegetables for a complete meal.

Note that nutrition information varies depending on the exact ingredients and quantities used. Baking at 375°F for about 20 minutes cooks the meatballs evenly without drying them out.
