Korean Spicy Green Onion Salad
Description
This salad highlights green onions thinly sliced to deliver a mild onion flavor and crisp bite. Washing the green onions removes surface sliminess, ensuring a clean texture. The dressing combines salty soy sauce, sweetness from raw sugar, nutty notes from toasted sesame oil and seeds, tang from white vinegar, heat from Korean chili powder, and aromatic minced garlic.
The ingredients are lightly but thoroughly mixed to coat the green onions evenly without bruising them, preserving freshness and texture. The result is a vibrant side dish with a balance of spicy, savory, sweet, and tangy flavors typical of Korean cuisine.
Typically served on its own or alongside grilled meats, rice, or other Korean dishes, this salad offers a fresh contrast and adds a spicy kick. Serving it chilled or at room temperature works well.
