Lavender Banana Bread
Description
This Lavender Banana Bread recipe blends all-purpose flour with baking soda and salt to provide structure and rise. Melted butter and brown sugar contribute moistness and subtle sweetness, while eggs and vanilla extract bind the batter. Ripe mashed bananas add natural sweetness and moisture. The inclusion of lavender extract introduces a gentle floral element distinct from typical banana bread.
Baked at 350°F in a loaf pan, the bread develops a golden top with a moist, tender crumb inside. The lavender glaze, made from powdered sugar, vanilla, lavender extract, heavy cream, and milk, is whisked until smooth and drizzled over the cooled loaf. A touch of food coloring and optional culinary lavender flowers on top create a pretty presentation.
This bread works well as a breakfast or tea-time treat, balancing banana's familiar flavor with the subtle aromatic note of lavender. The butter and sugar ratio keeps it rich without overwhelming the delicate floral essence.
The recipe cautions against overmixing the batter to preserve tenderness and suggests cooling before glazing for optimal appearance.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 6-cup loaf pan with nonstick baking spray.

lavender glaze
- To make the lavender glaze, whisk all ingredients together until smooth. If it seems to thick, add in more milk 1 teaspoon at a time. If desired, you can add a drop of food coloring to make it pink!
- Optional: sprinkle a teaspoon of culinary lavender over top of the glaze.
Notes
- Adapted lightly from Allrecipes to include lavender flavor.
