Leek Breakfast Strata
Description
Leek Breakfast Strata combines sautéed leeks and red bell peppers with chunks of rustic Italian bread, shredded Swiss and cheddar cheeses, and a spiced egg and milk custard. The bread soaks up the seasoned egg mixture, while the sautéed vegetables provide gentle sweetness and softness. Baking covered ensures the strata cooks thoroughly, while a final uncovered bake melts and browns the cheese topping.
The result is a layered, savory casserole with a creamy interior and a lightly golden top. The inclusion of marjoram and garlic powder adds subtle aromatic notes. This strata serves well as a warm, satisfying brunch or breakfast main dish, offering a balance of vegetables, dairy, and bread textures.
Because the recipe uses a full loaf of bread and serves twelve, it's suited for larger gatherings. Adjusting the seasoning to taste guarantees a well-rounded flavor. The note cautions that calorie counts are estimates and recommends consulting nutrition professionals for exact data.
