Leftover Candy Bar Bark

Leftover Candy Bar Bark is a simple treat made by melting semi-sweet chocolate chips and spreading them on parchment, then topping with chopped assorted Halloween candy bars. Once set in the refrigerator, it breaks into sweet, crunchy pieces combining chocolate’s smoothness with candy textures, ideal for using leftover candy creatively.

Description

This recipe uses melted semi-sweet chocolate chips flavored with vanilla extract as a base spread evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Assorted Halloween candy bars chopped into chunks—such as Snickers, Mars, Whoppers, M&Ms, Kit Kats, and Butterfingers—are sprinkled over the melted chocolate before refrigeration to set. The chocolate hardens into a solid bark with embedded candy pieces providing varied texture and bursts of sweetness.

The chilled bark will have a firm snap and sweet chocolate flavor combined with the crunch, caramel, nougat, and nuts from the various candy bars. It’s a good way to reuse leftover Halloween candy in a visually appealing and easy-to-make dessert.

After firming in the fridge for about 30 minutes, the bark is broken into chunks for serving. This treat can be eaten as snack pieces or used as an accessory to desserts, such as toppings or mix-ins.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 18 ounces chocolate chips or melting disks, semi-sweet
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Halloween candy cut into 1/2 inch chunks, assorted, leftover

Instructions

  1. Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper.

  2. Add the chocolate chips to a large glass bowl.
  3. Microwave the chocolate chips on half power (very important) until melted, stirring every 30 seconds.

  4. Stir in the vanilla extract until smooth.

  5. Pour chocolate evenly into the baking sheet and spread gently.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped and broken candy bars over the chocolate.
  7. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.

  8. Break into chunks to serve.

Notes

  • Use assorted leftover Halloween candies chopped into roughly 1/2 inch pieces for varied texture and flavor.
  • Melting chocolate chips on half power in the microwave prevents burning; stir every 30 seconds for even melting.
  • Vanilla extract added to melted chocolate enhances flavor complexity.
  • Refrigerate until fully set, approximately 30 minutes, before breaking into pieces.
