Leftover Ham and Spinach Casserole

Leftover Ham and Spinach Casserole combines cooked ziti pasta with a creamy cheese sauce, shredded ham, and spinach. The dish is baked until heated through, producing a rich, comforting casserole with a cheesy, savory flavor and tender pasta and vegetable textures. It's a practical way to repurpose leftovers into a satisfying entrée.

Description

This casserole starts by cooking ziti pasta and combining it with a béchamel-style cheese sauce made from butter, flour, milk, sharp white cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses. Garlic powder and black pepper add mild seasoning to the sauce. Cubed cooked ham and thawed, well-drained spinach are stirred into the cheesy mixture, integrating protein and greens.

After mixing, the combined ingredients are transferred to a baking dish and baked uncovered to meld flavors and heat the casserole thoroughly. The result is a creamy, cheesy dish with well-coated pasta, tender spinach, and flavorful ham. The sharpness from the cheeses balances the mild spinach and salty ham.

This casserole works well as a standalone meal and is a convenient use of leftover ham. It's hearty and suitable for family dinners, offering a familiar comfort food profile with simple ingredients.
