Lemon Basil Poppyseed Dressing
Description
This dressing is prepared by blending fresh lemon juice with packed fresh basil leaves, extra-virgin olive oil for smoothness, honey for a touch of sweetness, and kosher salt to enhance flavors. Optional poppy seeds add a delicate crunch and subtle nuttiness. The ingredients are processed until fairly smooth, resulting in a lively, herb-forward dressing with a balance of acidity and sweetness.
Stored in a jar with a tight lid, this dressing keeps well when refrigerated for three to five days. Shaking before use helps to remix ingredients that may separate. Its fresh basil and lemon base make it a versatile addition to various salads and vegetable dishes where bright flavors are desired.
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup lemon juice fresh
- ¼-½ cup basil packed, fresh leaves
- ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 tablespoons honey
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons poppy seeds optional
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except the poppy seeds in a blender or food processor and blend until fairly smooth. Transfer to a jar with a tight-fitting lid or a serving container. Store in the refrigerator. Will keep well for 3-5 days.
Notes
- Store the dressing in a sealed container in the refrigerator; it maintains quality for 3–5 days.
- Shake or stir well before each use to recombine any separation.
